Take the PLUNGE Already!
Welcome to Act 4 of the 8 Part STORY SPIRAL
It’s all downhill from here.
Sounds like good news until you realize the thrill of free-falling only works if you packed a parachute. When the ground is no longer where you left it, life can get a little scary.
The storyteller in you knows this already. It’s only when things start to get bad that they story gets good. If you want to keep that long middle stretch of your tale interesting, then you’ve got to do something. You have to drop your character into some uncertainty.
The PLUNGE might be their idea. It might be the fate you’ve laid out for them. But no matter what, the fall that follows will be deeper than it looked from the earlier heights of your story. Deep enough that climbing back out again isn’t going to be easy. Especially if it the PLUNGE involved a friendly knife in their favorite back.
